Getting What You Ask For?

September 18, 2020 by Brigitte Jaquillard Leave a Comment

With so many new practices being created and messages being delivered, I wonder how many are generating the desired response? Does your Leadership Communication need fine tuning?

Everywhere I turn and each person I speak to is currently instigating change. This year has catalysed change more than any other I can remember. With so much change and so many messages, how many of those good ideas, those seeds, are actually landing on fertile soil? How many will grow into the full vision the creator had? In short are you getting what you ask for?

In our need to do things fast, to see the change soon, we act and communicate in haste. What appears to be a logical, helpful idea from your perspective, may have very different implications to someone with a different perspective … which is everyone else! This is why it is so important to sound out ideas, with an objective audience, before launching into the communication.

Even in Hollywood, they test out possible endings, to select the one which creates the most favourable response. They do this for the success of the film, the “idea”. In our everyday management or leadership position, initiatives, focus, or processes we want to implement, are so close and familiar to us due to our thought journey to arrive at them, that they are often delivered with precious little context, empathy or openness regarding our personal journey to reach this solution. There is an unexpressed expectation that it will be received as we feel it, and then disappointment or even anger when it isn’t.

That’s one aspect of an issue we at Rolin are tackling. The other is the style of delivery which clearly impacts the acceptance levels. Creativity, fun, meaning, all play a part in making change more digestible and the ownership of the change more desirable. What if you had access to a professional Virtual Soundingboard, where you could test out the ideas and at the same time learn how to package them to make them more appealing, more impactful and ultimately more effective in the change they deliver?

We’d like to welcome you to our table, to our Virtual Soundingboard, where you bring a current idea or message, test it on an audience of 4-8 other non competitive professionals, and receive helpful suggestions and coaching to make that idea irresistible. You can create your own in house Board or you can join as an individual with other business peers (all with NDA’s to provide a safe space).

Our next Soundingboard will run on October 14th. For more information email: info@rolin.uk.com or visit the website www.rolin.uk.com
